The Carrefour company is created in France in 1959. First Carrefour hypermarket opened in 1963, in Sainte-Genevieve-des-bois. In 1999, Carrefour merged with Promodes, and became the leader of the retail business in Europe, the second largest company worldwide.

Carrefour logo with its blue, red & white colors has a very significant meaning behind it: it’s a continuous commitment to our customers. The logo was created in 1966, coming from C of Carreour and an arrow on on both sides, representing customers coming form all directions and meeting at Carrefour. The translation of Carrefour in Chinese, with its meaning of “Every Happy family”, reflects the core values of Carrefour.

1987 Carrefour established a joint-venture with President Group in Taiwan
1989 1st store, Ta Shun store, opened in Kaohsiung
1996 Carrefour Cultural and Educational Foundation established. Become the leading hypermarket and the 10th largest service company in Taiwan
1997 Launch of Carrefour Private Label products
1998 Launch of First Price products
1998 Launch of “Every day low price” commitment
2001 First Magali New concept store opened, offering customer a more convenient & comfortable shopping environment
2004/2 Launch of No.1 product
2006/6 Carrefour merges with Tesco
2008/7 Tai Ping Store opens in Taichung, Cheng Ching Store and Kwang Hua Store open in Kaohsiung
2008/9 Bei Men Store opens in Chiayi, Tai Tung Store opens in Taitung.
2008/10 Fong Yuan Store opens in Taichung, Ping Zhung Store opens in Pingtung.
2008/11 Lu Jhou Store opens in Taipei, I Lan Store opens in Ilan.
